Victoria Atkins MP: written questions

4 Jul 2026–16 Oct 2026 · year in progress

How these years work

Our reporting years run from 4 July to 3 July, starting with the 2024 general election. They are not official parliamentary sessions. Office costs keep IPSA’s April–March financial years. Records may cover only part of a year; a missing record does not mean no work was done.

Question: To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, when will section 171 of the Crime and Policing Act come into force.

Answer: To enact this power, we must amend Code B to the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984, which sets out rules and safeguards for entry and searches of premises. We will bring section 171 into force as soon as Parliamentary time allows.
