Records that do not match the published keyword rules closely enough.
Unclassified holds public parliamentary records for which none of the site's published topic keywords produced a match. It is a useful place to look for gaps in the topic rules, not a description of an MP or an issue. The record may have a generic heading, use an unfamiliar term or concern a subject that does not fit one of the other categories. Some source fields contain little descriptive text. A missing topic match does not mean that the parliamentary action was unimportant or that the member did no relevant work.
Open the official record linked on each item to see the full question, debate, vote or committee activity. Look at the date and the exact wording before deciding what it concerns. Users can report an inaccurate classification with the feedback control on each record; reviewers can use these reports to refine the rules. A new keyword should be tested against a cross-source sample so that it does not classify unrelated records by accident. The UK Parliament's committee index can help locate related scrutiny, while the parliamentary data information page describes access to official data. A record may later move out of Unclassified when the taxonomy improves, without any change to the underlying parliamentary event. This page is about the limits of automatic labels, not about an MP's motives or performance.
