Sarah Pochin MP: speeches

4 Jul 2025–3 Jul 2026

How these years work

Our reporting years run from 4 July to 3 July, starting with the 2024 general election. They are not official parliamentary sessions. Office costs keep IPSA’s April–March financial years. Records may cover only part of a year; a missing record does not mean no work was done.

Speeches

  • 2 Jul 2026 · Historical Forced Adoption · Hansard source
    More

My own mother was pressurised into giving up a baby for adoption, and this was handled by the Church. I found out only after her death. She carried her secret to her grave. When I found out, I tried to find my sibling, but drew a blank. I had to pay privately to find him, and we have now been united. Can the Prime Minister assure those affected that the new systems and resources will be given the funding that they need to reunite families?

  • 22 Jun 2026 · Pathways Study: Puberty Suppression · Hansard source
    More

The Secretary of State has said that no child subject to safeguarding concerns will be considered for participation in the trial. Can he confirm, therefore, that no already vulnerable children currently in the care system will be accepted on to the trial?

  • 23 Mar 2026 · Puberty Blockers Clinical Trial · Hansard source
    More

No, I will not. Overall, we are creating a generation of lost, anxious young people who are confused about their identity, socially insecure and physically scarred.

  • 15 Jan 2026 · Digital ID · Hansard source
    More

Does the Minister accept that announcing mandatory digital ID, only to then retreat to voluntary digital ID, has merely created an expensive and chaotic shambles? Will he rule out unequivocally that this retreat is not a trojan horse for compulsory digital ID being imposed on the public at a later date—yes or no?

  • 7 Jan 2026 · Support for Veterans · Hansard source
    More

Does the Secretary of State agree with the Northern Ireland Veterans Commissioner that the troubles Bill treats our brave veterans more harshly than terrorists?

  • 7 Jan 2026 · Support for Veterans · Hansard source
    More

    12. What steps he is taking to support Northern Ireland veterans.

  • 17 Dec 2025 · Puberty Suppressants Trial · Hansard source
    More

A survey published today by Transgender Trend shows overwhelming public support for non-intrusive medical approaches for under-16s with gender dysmorphia. The public want this state-sponsored child abuse stopped, so will the Secretary of State represent the will of the people, stop the trial and instead introduce statutory legislation to access the evidence data from the 2,000 children and young people already given puberty blockers through the Tavistock scandal?

  • 9 Dec 2025 · Northern Ireland Troubles: Operation Kenova · Hansard source
    More

This report covers the activities of one informer within the higher echelons of the Provisional IRA, but does the Secretary of State agree that there is a risk that the findings of this report, when taken in isolation, fail to fully recognise the contribution made by informants and agents inside the IRA in stopping countless killings?

  • 9 Dec 2025 · Grooming Gangs: Independent Inquiry · Hansard source
    More

We at Reform UK welcome the progress announced today by the Home Secretary into this long-overdue inquiry and welcome the reassurance she has given that the victims of predominantly British Pakistani rape gangs will be properly consulted and involved in the inquiry. Will she confirm that her Safeguarding Minister will be called as a witness in the inquiry, as someone who voted against an inquiry earlier this year and in whom victims lost all confidence?

  • 8 Dec 2025 · Digital ID · Hansard source
    More

Over 5,400 of my constituents in Runcorn and Helsby have signed this petition. I have also received many, many emails objecting to it. Does the right hon. Member agree with my constituents who all understand that this new digital ID card will not solve the problem of illegal working in this country?

  • 21 Oct 2025 · Sentencing Bill · Hansard source
    More

I thank the hon. Lady for the Eton example. I am sure that will resonate very well with my constituents in Runcorn.

  • 21 Oct 2025 · Sentencing Bill · Hansard source
    More

I absolutely agree with the right hon. Lady— [ Interruption . ]

  • 10 Jul 2025 · UK-EU Trading Relationship · Hansard source

  • 8 Jul 2025 · Topical Questions · Hansard source
    More

The Secretary of State will be aware of the deeply troubling revelations over the weekend of the so-called Halal bride website. Does she agree that such practices have absolutely no place in Britain?
