Rupert Lowe MP: speeches
4 Jul 2026–16 Oct 2026 · year in progress
How these years work
Our reporting years run from 4 July to 3 July, starting with the 2024 general election. They are not official parliamentary sessions. Office costs keep IPSA’s April–March financial years. Records may cover only part of a year; a missing record does not mean no work was done.

First, can I say how much I enjoy serving on the Public Accounts Committee with the hon. Lady? I think—and I am sure she agrees with me—that the key to correcting this situation is for the Government to make better decisions. It seems that a pattern of bad decision making has resulted in the necessity of these claims, which do take too long to be heard, and I fully support the Committee’s report, which suggests that we need an independent body to ensure that the Government are not seen to be marking their own homework and kicking the ball into the long grass for as long as they possibly can.
