    I am grateful to the hon. Member for that point of order and for giving advance notice of it. Ministerial correspondence is not a matter for the Chair. However, all hon. Members should be entitled to expect a timely reply when they write to any member of the Government—I see Members on the Treasury Bench nodding in agreement and am sure that they will ensure that the appropriate Minister is made aware and responds to the hon. Member’s request as soon as possible.

    The hon. Member is nodding. The Chair is not responsible for anything that hon. Members say outside the Chamber—that in itself would be a full-time job—but he has put his point on the record. Renters’ Rights Bill: Programme (No. 2) Motion made, and Question put forthwith (Standing Order No. 83A(7)), That the following provisions shall apply to the Renters’ Rights Bill for the purpose of supplementing the Order of 9 October 2024 (Renters’ Rights Bill: Programme): Consideration of Lords Amendments (1) Proceedings on consideration of Lords Amendments shall (so far as not previously concluded) be brought to a conclusion four hours after their commencement. (2) The Lords Amendments shall be considered in the following order: 11, 14, 18, 19, 26, 27, 39, 53, 55 to 62, 64, 67, 1 to 10, 12 and 13, 15 to 17, 20 to 25, 28 to 38, 40 to 52, 54, 63, 65 and 66, 68 to 77. Subsequent stages (3) Any further Message from the Lords may be considered forthwith without any Question being put. (4) Proceedings on any further Message from the Lords shall (so far as not previously concluded) be brought to a conclusion one hour after their commencement. —(Sir Nicholas Dakin.)
