Manuela Perteghella MP: speeches

4 Jul 2025–3 Jul 2026

How these years work

Our reporting years run from 4 July to 3 July, starting with the 2024 general election. They are not official parliamentary sessions. Office costs keep IPSA’s April–March financial years. Records may cover only part of a year; a missing record does not mean no work was done.

Speeches

  • 15 Jun 2026 · Topical Questions · Hansard source
    More

T5. The old British Home Stores building in the heart of Stratford-upon-Avon lies disused and crumbling—a blight on the beauty of our high street. Does the Minister agree that it must be made easier for communities to tackle eyesore buildings by imposing harsher measures on offending landlords, and by strengthening measures to allow local authorities to bring them back into productive use?

  • 28 Apr 2026 · Park Home Owners · Hansard source
    More

I hear repeatedly from park home residents in my constituency that they do not understand what the 10% charge is actually paying for. They feel that they have very little leverage and are stuck in a system that they cannot challenge. Does the hon. Member agree that any review must go beyond another round of evidence gathering? This time, park home residents will expect real change.

  • 13 Apr 2026 · SEND Provision and Reform · Hansard source
    More

Does my hon. Friend agree that strengthening inclusion in mainstream schools and maintaining legally enforceable protections for children and young people should not be competing aims?

  • 16 Mar 2026 · Heating Oil Support · Hansard source
    More

Nearly 13,000 households are off-grid in my constituency, including my home. It is a wild west out there; prices have doubled in just a few weeks, and many of my constituents are not even able to pay for the minimum 500-litre orders required by the providers. Does the Minister agree it would be far quicker and simpler for the Government to provide relief through a VAT holiday on heating oil and LPG? That would ensure that support reaches every household immediately, rather than relying on councils to distribute limited discretionary funds.

  • 9 Mar 2026 · Work Capability Assessments · Hansard source
    More

    16. What assessment he has made of the potential impact of work capability assessment clearance times of over two years on claimants.

  • 25 Feb 2026 · Electronic Travel Authorisation: Dual Nationals · Hansard source
    More

(Urgent Question:) To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department to make a statement on the impact of the UK’s electronic travel authorisation rules on British citizens who are also dual nationals.

  • 19 Jan 2026 · Iran: Protests · Hansard source
    More

My constituents have contacted me sick with worry. They have not heard from their loved ones for over a week. There are reports of tens of thousands of citizens being killed, but the number could be higher because of the deliberate communication blackout. This is now an international human rights emergency. Will the Government act faster on the proscription of the IRGC, and will the Minister support stronger diplomatic consequences for this brutal regime?

  • 10 Dec 2025 · Topical Questions · Hansard source
    More

T1. If she will make a statement on her departmental responsibilities.

  • 10 Dec 2025 · Conversion Practices Ban · Hansard source
    More

LGBTQ rights campaigners have warned that the Government’s continued delay on banning conversion practices is dangerous and leaves vulnerable people without protection. Every month of delay leaves people exposed to practices that the Government themselves have said are abusive. Will the Minister now set out a clear timeline and give a firm commitment that the Government will not drag their heels on this any longer?

  • 10 Dec 2025 · Conversion Practices Ban · Hansard source
    More

    1. If she will make an assessment of the potential impact of her timetable for bringing forward legislative proposals to ban conversion practices on affected people.

  • 10 Dec 2025 · Village Schools · Hansard source
    More

I agree with my hon. Friend. Village schools are exceptional because of their location and the isolated, remote communities that they serve.

  • 8 Dec 2025 · Digital ID · Hansard source
    More

My constituents in Stratford-on-Avon are deeply concerned as well. Does the hon. Member agree that if millions of people need to rely on a Government-built identity tool to access work and services, the risks of data and privacy breaches and of errors will be considerable?

  • 17 Nov 2025 · Parkinson’s Disease · Hansard source
    More

Does my hon. Friend agree that diagnosis is just the beginning, because too many people tell us that after receiving that life-changing news, they just feel abandoned? Nearly one quarter receive no information about Parkinson’s services and no adequate information about their condition, so does my hon. Friend agree that we need to ensure that they receive that?

  • 11 Nov 2025 · BBC Leadership · Hansard source
    More

It is essential that the BBC’s independence and impartiality are upheld at all times. I am afraid that serious concerns have been raised about Sir Robbie Gibb’s conduct on the BBC board, including alleged attempts to influence recruitment and editorial decisions. If the Secretary of State cannot remove Gibbs from the board and cannot end the political appointments now, what actions can she take to restore public confidence in the BBC’s governance?

  • 3 Nov 2025 · Video Games: Consumer Law · Hansard source
    More

In my constituency, as in many other areas, increasingly residents are finding that the video games that they thought they owned simply stop working when the online support ends, or that ownership is limited by the terms and conditions of the licence, which is deeply frustrating for consumers who have paid money in good faith. Does the hon. Member agree that the Government should ensure that existing consumer protections keep pace with these changes, so that people are not left out of pocket when the digital services that they rely on are switched off, often without warning?

  • 20 Oct 2025 · Topical Questions · Hansard source
    More

T1. If she will make a statement on her departmental responsibilities.

  • 15 Sept 2025 · Children with SEND: Assessments and Support · Hansard source
    More

SEND families in Stratford-on-Avon want to work in partnership with schools and councils, but too often they are left without the support they need. They are battling an adversarial system. Does my hon. Friend agree that any reforms should strengthen, not weaken, co-operation between families, schools, health services and local authorities?

  • 15 Sept 2025 · Children with SEND: Assessments and Support · Hansard source
    More

Will the hon. Member give way?

  • 8 Sept 2025 · Palestine Action: Proscription and Protests · Hansard source
    More

Can the Minister tell me what safeguards, if any, are in place to ensure that terrorism powers are not misused against people exercising their democratic right to protest peacefully against proscription, including elderly vicars holding placards?

  • 3 Sept 2025 · Hospitality Sector · Hansard source
    More

    rose—

  • 21 Jul 2025 · Middle East · Hansard source
    More

Does the Foreign Secretary agree that the Israeli Government should bear heavy consequences should they decide to proceed with the approval of the illegal E1 settlement plan in occupied East Jerusalem, which will threaten the two-state solution?
