Liz Jarvis MP: speeches

4 Jul 2025–3 Jul 2026

How these years work

Our reporting years run from 4 July to 3 July, starting with the 2024 general election. They are not official parliamentary sessions. Office costs keep IPSA’s April–March financial years. Records may cover only part of a year; a missing record does not mean no work was done.

Speeches

  • 27 Apr 2026 · Child Maintenance Service · Hansard source
    More

My office deals with hundreds of Child Maintenance Service cases. In one case, a mum applied to the CMS in June last year and was initially awarded just over £100. She applied for a mandatory reconsideration and the figure was increased. However, the increased payments have still not been made, and she is experiencing significant financial hardship and stress as a result. Has the Minister considered how failings in the service facilitate post-separation abuse?

  • 17 Mar 2026 · Youth Unemployment · Hansard source
    More

The managing director of G. W. Martin, a manufacturing firm based in my constituency, welcomes the hiring bonus included in the announcement, but he says that it will barely cover the cost of one month’s pay. More important to him are the candidates’ attributes and commitment, rather than any bonus on offer. I absolutely welcome any measure to support young people in my constituency into work, but will the Minister tell me what more is being done to ensure young people remain and succeed in the workplace?

  • 12 Mar 2026 · Topical Questions · Hansard source
    More

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Ionoptika, a fantastic local employer in Chandler’s Ford. It told me that UK small and medium-sized enterprises are being impacted by export licence turnaround times, which are taking up to six months for non-controlled goods. Will the Minister confirm when we will see a significant improvement in turnaround times?

    More

T2. I am deeply concerned about the British service personnel being put at risk by attacks from Iran. With US Secretary of State Marco Rubio warning that the hardest hits are yet to come, can the Foreign Secretary confirm whether any British personnel are on any US ships being used to attack Iran?

  • 21 Jan 2026 · Dementia Support: Hampshire · Hansard source
    More

I absolutely agree with my hon. Friend. When my mum was first diagnosed with dementia, one of the most important things for her was going to Singing for the Brain sessions, where people are encouraged to remember old songs. That was brilliant for her, but obviously it is not enough. When the condition starts to progress, it becomes harder and harder, yet the care that is needed is often not available, as I am setting out.

  • 15 Dec 2025 · Veterans · Hansard source
    More

We are incredibly proud of our veterans in Eastleigh, and Veterans Dementia Support UK based in my constituency does fantastic work assisting veterans. It wants to expand its work by opening more support groups for ex-service personnel, who want to volunteer but are struggling to get their DBS checks in a timely fashion. Will the Minister work with colleagues to ensure that veterans charities can continue to do their vital work by reducing the wait times for DBS checks to be processed?

  • 13 Nov 2025 · Hunting Trophies · Hansard source
    More

    10. When she plans to introduce legislation on banning imports of hunting trophies.

  • 28 Oct 2025 · Support for Disabled Veterans · Hansard source
    More

I do agree with my hon. Friend. I am sure that the Minister wants to champion disabled veterans, so does she agree that Mark deserves support now? Sadly, Mark is one of the many veterans across this country facing systemic challenges. Veterans report feeling unprepared for civilian life after medical discharge, as the system is unclear and inconsistent.

  • 23 Oct 2025 · Infected Blood Compensation Scheme · Hansard source
    More

    14. What recent progress he has made on the infected blood compensation scheme.

  • 15 Sept 2025 · Shoplifting · Hansard source
    More

Recently, A. C. Models in my constituency was targeted by a series of thefts that cost the owners, Annette and Clive, thousands of pounds, yet the shoplifter was ordered to pay them just £240 in compensation. With retail losses due to theft at record highs, what measures are the Government taking to support small businesses that are preyed on by shoplifters?

  • 2 Sept 2025 · Topical Questions · Hansard source
    More

T10. My constituents who have fled Hong Kong are deeply worried about the silencing of democratic voices there and the uncertainty that the proposed change to indefinite leave to remain creates for their long-term security here in the UK. What steps are the Government taking to hold to account those responsible for the erosion of Hong Kong’s freedoms and to give reassurance to Hongkongers who have sought refuge here?

  • 7 Jul 2025 · Topical Questions · Hansard source
    More

T1. If she will make a statement on her departmental responsibilities.
