Lauren Sullivan MP: speeches
4 Jul 2025–3 Jul 2026
How these years work
Our reporting years run from 4 July to 3 July, starting with the 2024 general election. They are not official parliamentary sessions. Office costs keep IPSA’s April–March financial years. Records may cover only part of a year; a missing record does not mean no work was done.

Speeches
- 30 Jun 2026 · Support for Victims of Abuse · Hansard source
More
In Gravesham, I recently visited the new Maltings child contact centre hosted by the City Praise Centre in Chalk. It is the only one in north Kent, and provides a calm, safe place for parents to meet their children. It takes place on a Saturday once a month from 10 am to 12 noon. Given the vital role that local organisations play in supporting families to connect and reconnect safely, what steps is the Minister taking to ensure that services such as these are more widely available?
- 30 Jun 2026 · Support for Victims of Abuse · Hansard source
More
7. What steps his Department is taking to support women and children who have experienced abuse to access support services.
- 17 Jun 2026 · Engagements · Hansard source
More
Q1. If he will list his official engagements for Wednesday 17 June.
- 1 Jun 2026 · Child Sexual Offender Data · Hansard source
More
I thank the hon. Member for her bravery and for being an example for survivors. I pay tribute to her and all those who have experienced this abuse. There is hope, and they should reach out and have faith, but we need to make sure that the authorities listen to their voices and take them seriously.
- 21 May 2026 · Imprisonment of Craig and Lindsay Foreman in Iran · Hansard source
More
My hon. and learned Friend is making a powerful speech on behalf of his constituents. On the point of monitoring the welfare and health of the Foremans, with diplomatic relations as they are at the moment, does he agree that we must implore the Minister to use all channels and actions possible to check on their welfare?
- 23 Apr 2026 · UK Biobank Data · Hansard source
More
I thank the Minister for his statement. Fundamentally, this is valuable data, and it relies on trust. I therefore welcome UK Biobank’s actions in suspending the agreement with these researchers. Will the Minister provide a commitment and welcome the technical solution for protecting this data? More and more, we are seeing papers published by AI bots, so there needs to be a way to trace back to the evidence used. There needs to be a workaround on the technical support in order to advance medical research. Will the Minister comment on that?
- 12 Mar 2026 · International Women’s Day · Hansard source
More
On a point of order, Madam Deputy Speaker. I want to make it clear that, as per my entry in the Register of Members’ Financial Interests, I am a visiting research scientist—an unpaid position—at the Francis Crick Institute. I forgot to mention that in my speech.
- 10 Mar 2026 · Digital ID: Public Consultation · Hansard source
More
I welcome the change to not demand a digital ID, and I welcome the focus of the work: listening to the public about how Government platforms can be made useful, relevant and efficient for residents. What checks will be carried out to hold the spend accountable and ensure that the services being delivered are relevant to residents in the UK?
- 14 Jan 2026 · Science and Discovery Centres · Hansard source
More
To clarify on UKRI, will the Government therefore allow it to distribute funds to the science centres? Will the Minister clarify the point that he made?
- 7 Jan 2026 · Public Services · Hansard source
More
1. What recent discussions he has had with the Northern Ireland Executive on improving public services.
- 12 Nov 2025 · SEND Provision: Kent · Hansard source
More
I am grateful for the assurance that scrutiny is still in operation. How can constituents and parents find out about the improvement plan and the scrutiny so that they feel that the pressure is still on?
- 12 Nov 2025 · SEND Provision: Kent · Hansard source
More
When the previous Conservative Government introduced the safety valve scheme, which was essentially a blank cheque or a credit card, did they have a plan for how the money would be paid back?
- 21 Oct 2025 · Cancer Diagnoses · Hansard source
More
8. What steps his Department is taking to reduce the time taken for cancer diagnoses.
- 15 Oct 2025 · Pride in Place · Hansard source
More
I welcome the Minister to her place. I thank her for Gravesham’s share of the pride in place impact fund; £1.5 million over two years is a really great investment, so that we can restart building communities and place—and there are new possibilities that once could only have been imagined. These priorities have been neglected over many years. Does she agree with me that the impact fund will make a real difference to Gravesham?
- 11 Sept 2025 · Life Sciences Investment · Hansard source
More
I welcome the Minister to his place. This is devastating news for the research scientists and the fantastic work they do on neuroscience, inflammation and immunology. Some of that is being carried out at the Francis Crick Institute, where I declare I am unpaid visiting research scientist. Does the Minister agree that the UK has so much expertise to offer and that he needs to look at the whole life science ecosystem, from bench discovery to dispensing at the bedside? Will he join us at the Science, Innovation and Technology Committee on Tuesday afternoon when we can go into those issues in depth?
- 16 Jul 2025 · Blue Badge Eligibility · Hansard source
More
I have constituents who are helping to support their children through cancer treatment. They applied for a blue badge; only after the child’s treatment was, thankfully, successful did the application come back with a no or yes. The focus should be on getting well, not battling a system. I pay tribute to the hon. Member for Maidstone and Malling (Helen Grant) for securing this debate.
