    More

A referral to the Privileges Committee has always been considered a House matter—a matter for the individual judgment of Members of Parliament. It would be an abomination if it were to be whipped by either side, wouldn’t it?

  • 20 Apr 2026 · Security Vetting · Hansard source
    More

On 4 February, my right hon. Friend the Leader of the Opposition asked the Prime Minister: “did the official security vetting that he received mention Mandelson’s ongoing relationship with… Jeffrey Epstein?” —[ Official Report , 4 February 2026; Vol. 780, c. 259.] The Prime Minister replied, “Yes, it did.” What on earth was it that the Prime Minister received and was talking about that my right hon. Friend referred to as the official security vetting? He said that he had received it.

Can I declare my interest, having lost three tyres to potholes this year? What assessment has the Department made of the efficiency with which potholes are being filled? What on earth is it filling them with, because within weeks and sometimes days, a newly filled pothole is back again?

  • 23 Mar 2026 · Middle East · Hansard source

Does the Secretary of State have contacts at US Central Command that can give reassurance that there is a plan? The President’s social media feed gives the opposite impression. Is Britain at war?

  • 19 Mar 2026 · Statutory Right to Food · Hansard source
    More

Is this a wind-up, Mr Speaker? They will be asking for collective farms in this socialist paradise next. Has the Minister made any assessment of the impact that a right to food would have on the public purse once our activist judges got hold of it?

  • 18 Mar 2026 · Student Loans · Hansard source
    More

    I’ve got a short one!

  • 18 Mar 2026 · Student Loans · Hansard source
    More

The Minister’s hon. Friend, the hon. Member for Leeds Central and Headingley (Alex Sobel), asked a perfectly reasonable question about looking at the thing in the round, and her answer was that she would take the conversation forward. I think we need more than that.

  • 10 Mar 2026 · Digital ID: Public Consultation · Hansard source
    More

I am almost speechless! This House is the properly accountable people’s panel, not some collection of stooges and trustees selected by the Minister. In any event, it is no good him telling us it is asleep—this parrot is dead, killed by lack of trust in the Government after the whole saga of Labour Together, isn’t it?

As no other Member has approached the Minister, nobody else will be speaking, unless it is through an intervention. There will not be an opportunity for the Member in charge to wind up.
