I share the Minister’s disgust at the horrific arson attack today, which will further worry the Jewish community and all decent-minded people in Altrincham and Sale West, and across our country. He rightly spoke of the importance of strong and decisive action to tackle the torrent of antisemitism, so can he tell the House when we will see concrete implementation milestones for the Government’s “Protecting What Matters” action plan?

I recently met my constituent Sam, who suffered life-changing injuries and lost a close friend when they were both hit by a silent falling tree in Sale. The tree that fell on Sam had a visual tree assessment months earlier and was not scheduled for major safety work. Sam wants Government action to mandate more thorough assessments of dangerous trees that go beyond purely visual assessments. Can the Leader of the House help me in seeking to take this campaign forward?

Poverty and economic inequality scar the education and life chances of children. Is it not right that by lifting the two-child limit, delivering 30 hours of free childcare, rolling out free breakfast clubs and family hubs and opening new school-based nurseries, including at Altrincham Church of England primary school in my constituency, this Government are investing in equality for children, and that that investment will be repaid many times over, when every child has the support they need to reach their full potential?

3. What steps she is taking with Cabinet colleagues to promote equality as part of the Government mission to break down barriers to opportunity.
- 9 Mar 2026 · Social Cohesion Action Plan · Hansard source
More
I warmly welcome the social cohesion strategy as we seek to unite our communities. In Altrincham and Sale West, we are fortunate enough to have some fantastic interfaith groups and organisations, and I give a special mention to “The Rabbi and The Imam” project. With antisemitism and Islamophobia on the rise, the project brings together local Muslim and local Jewish leaders to talk about their faiths, focusing on shared humanity, understanding and unity, including going into local schools. Is that exactly the kind of initiative that the Government and society need to get behind to counter extremism and hatred?
- 9 Mar 2026 · Support for NEET Young People · Hansard source
More
I draw the Secretary of State’s attention to Wiseup Networks, an organisation, based in my constituency, that enables employers across Manchester and London to provide young people with work experience and mentoring opportunities for those with social and economic barriers to work, including young people with special educational needs. Those opportunities lead to job offers, increased confidence and new career options for the participants. Given this Government’s commitment to social mobility and ensuring that young people are earning or learning, will the Secretary of State meet me and Wiseup Networks to discuss how we can support its vital work?

5. What steps he is taking to support young people into employment, education or training.
- 4 Feb 2026 · Nurseries and Early Years Providers: CCTV · Hansard source
More
I thank my hon. Friend for raising that case. As a Greater Manchester Member of Parliament, I know that the important issue of mandatory CCTV in nursery settings is a critical part of the Campaign for Gigi. There is also the issue of allowing parents to access CCTV footage. I have raised before in Westminster Hall the case of my constituent Frances, who found it extremely difficult to access the CCTV footage of an incident in which her daughter was seriously mistreated at her nursery, in my constituency. Does my hon. Friend agree that such cases show that, as well as having mandatory CCTV in nurseries, parents need greater rights to hold providers to account and access the footage they need?
- 3 Feb 2026 · Iran · Hansard source
More
As well as funding and fuelling violence across the world, the Iranian regime is once again showing its brutality on the streets. Like many hon. Members, I have had constituents in my surgery in tears; they are living in constant distress and fear about what might have happened to their families. Will the Minister outline how this Government are truly doing all that they can to bring pressure to bear on the Iranian regime, including with regards to embassy arrangements? Does he agree that a united and co-ordinated message must go out from us and our allies, saying that the regime will pay a price for this horrendous violence?
- 3 Feb 2026 · Topical Questions · Hansard source
More
For too long, victims in Altrincham and Sale West and across the country have been treated as secondary thoughts in the criminal justice system—left in limbo, not knowing their rights and feeling voiceless when decisions are made on bail and sentencing. What reassurances can the Minister give that victims will be at the heart of the justice system following the Government’s reforms?
- 27 Jan 2026 · Commonhold and Leasehold Reform · Hansard source
More
Since my election I have worked to support leaseholders across my constituency, meeting residents at Maple Court, Budenberg and St James Court. When I surveyed local leaseholders on what they needed from the Government, the most common response was a reduction of the unfair charges that they face. Does today’s announcement not show that we finally have a Government who are listening to leaseholders and putting money back in their pockets?

I thank my hon. Friend for giving way. I met Matty on a number of occasions, like many who sit on the Labour Benches representing the north-west, and he certainly made a lasting impression on me from the few opportunities when we met. We know that when faced with lengthy waits for an NHS diagnosis, some people with ADHD turn to shared care, receiving a private diagnosis before their care transfers back to the national health service. I have a constituent who tried to do that for her son, but her GP refuses to accept the private diagnosis and provide treatment, meaning that my constituent now faces huge treatment costs, yet just a few years earlier her other son secured a shared care arrangement with the same GP practice. Does my hon. Friend agree that we need to address some of the inconsistencies in ADHD care that are caused by long waiting times?

- 5 Jan 2026 · Asylum Hotels · Hansard source
More
The Cresta Court hotel in my constituency has been used to house asylum seekers for just over a year. That is bad for the taxpayer, bad for my community and bad for those going through the system. As I have said to the Minister on many occasions, the Cresta—like all hotels housing asylum seekers—must be returned to normal use as soon as possible. As we seek to build a fair, safe and just immigration and asylum system out of the wreckage left to us by those on the Opposition Benches, could he provide an update on the Government’s work to make that happen?
