What Parliament records
Ad hoc payment entries give details of individual payments for outside work or services. They sit under the wider employment and earnings category.
How the 2026/27 figure works
MPs are ranked by the total GBP value of payment entries explicitly marked as received. We use the recorded date received to choose the financial year and count each distinct interest ID once, even when it appears in multiple register editions.

What the figure leaves out
An expected payment is excluded. A newly registered payment can relate to work done earlier, and some payments can be registered after the year in which they were received. This is a register-based total, not a tax or whole-income figure.
Only records available in complete compared register editions are included. Registration does not imply wrongdoing.
