How donation names are matched
For 2026–2027, we remove titles and “MP”, normalise punctuation and spacing and compare names without case sensitivity. Only a unique MP name match or a source-backed reviewed override is included. Ambiguous and unmatched names are excluded. A name match alone does not prove identity, influence or wrongdoing.
Donor identity groups
The rules above identify MP recipients. Donor flows separately group records by a valid supplied company number; otherwise only an exact reported name after case and spacing normalisation, plus donor type, is grouped. Name-only groups are labelled as unverified identities. Different company numbers, names without a number and anonymous records are not merged; no fuzzy matching or inferred party-to-MP transfer is used.
